About Tidepool
Streaming built around raising children, not just distracting them.
The Problem We're Solving
Most streaming platforms are designed to maximize watch time—not support family life. Algorithms push endless next episodes, surface content parents didn't choose, and turn screen time into a daily negotiation. Parents are left managing complex controls, monitoring constantly, and playing referee over when to stop.
We believe the problem isn't parenting—it's how streaming platforms are designed.
Who We Are
We're a small team with backgrounds in software development and entrepreneurship. We've built products, run our own business, and spent years solving complex problems with technology. But Tidepool didn't start as a business idea. It started at home.
Like many families, we have young children, and we grew increasingly frustrated with our streaming options. We wanted clear, explicit control over what content entered our home. Instead, we found platforms designed to surface more content, not better content—often putting decisions in the hands of algorithms we didn't trust.
We built Tidepool to change that. Our goal is simple: give families real control over screen time, so parents—not recommendation engines—decide what belongs in their home. We believe we're at a critical moment. Screens and online content shape how our kids learn, relax, and interact with the world. When left unchecked, that influence can be unhealthy. Tidepool is our effort to design something better—for our own families, and for others like ours.
Our Mission
Tidepool starts from a different place. Instead of optimizing for engagement or layering on more controls, we redesigned streaming from the ground up so parent control is the default—not an afterthought.
We believe families deserve systems that respect their values, protect their time, and reduce the daily effort it takes to manage screens.
FOR R.E.A.L.
The principles we build by
FOR — What screens are for
Screens should serve a purpose—not fill time. Designed for intention, not endless consumption.
ROUTINE — When it happens
Predictable rhythms help screens fit into family life without constant negotiation.
EXPOSURE — What shows up
Nothing unexpected appears. Exploration happens within clear boundaries.
AGENCY — Who owns decisions
Parents remain in control, with consistency day to day.
LOAD — How much parents have to manage
Less mental overhead. Fewer interruptions. Less daily friction.
Peace of mind, built in.
That's what Tidepool is designed to deliver.
